Andy Carroll was West Ham United’s record signing when he finalised his move from Liverpool in June 2013 – but the final fee is even higher than previously thought. It was originally claimed West Ham, who have never officially disclosed the amount, paid £15?million before it then emerged it was a fee of £16.5?million.
It is quite an investment by the east London side, who will be desperately hoping that Carroll — after an injury-plagued last season and missing the start of this campaign — can now stay fit, especially with Diafra Sakho, who forged a prolific partnership with another new signing, Enner Valencia, injured.
