Chrysler to reveal next minivan at 2016 Detroit Auto Show

All eyes in the industry are presently fixed on this year's Detroit Auto Show, but over at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, they're already looking towards next year's show. That's when the Italian-American automaker says it'll unveil the next Chrysler minivan.
The announcement, made on the FCA Corporate Twitter feed, promises that the next Pentastar minivan will debut in January 2016, which (along with the hashtag NAIAS) suggests the next-generation family hauler will debut at the Detroit show next year.
Auburn Hills is expected to replace the current Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan with two all-new models: one keeping the minivan form, and the other shifting into more of a crossover. Just which nameplate gets the new form factor, and which will debut at Cobo next year, we don't know. Odds are good that it'll be the minivan not the CUV, though.
Chrysler's minivan has been a winning business for the Detroit automaker, pioneering the segment, outselling the competition and marketing around the world under more brands and nameplates than just about anything else in the industry. The vehicle has been sold as the Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler Voyager, Plymouth Voyager, Lancia Voyager, Ram Cargo Van and Volkswagen Routan, to say nothing of long-wheelbase Grand versions of many of the aforementioned nameplates.News Source: FCA via TwitterDetroit Auto ShowChryslerMinivan/Van2016 detroit auto showchrysler town and countrydetroitdetroit 2016detroit auto showdodgedodge caravandodge grand caravanI'm reporting this comment as:Rude or offensiveNot constructive / off-topicSexual contentSpam or misleadingOtherReported comments and users are reviewed by Autoblog staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week to determine whether they violate Community Guideline. But if they are going to drop one, I'd say Town and Country, because if you look into Chrysler's history the name has been put on just about every kind of car out there at some point. While the Caravan was always a minivan. I personally am sick of all these SUV/CUV's on the road, minivans are actually really practical vehicles, even though style has really never been their forte. My parents actually recently got a Grand Caravan R/T, and I wouldn't be surprised if it could beat some faster looking cars around the corners, if Chrysler is reading this post, your seats need more side bolstering!
If you do not need the room in a minivan, that is fine because you have plenty of options. I think the original comment referred to the millions who claim they need the 3-row crossover so they can take the whole family or soccer team places. THEY are the ones who should realistically look at their transport needs and not try to fool their peers that they are buying a rough and rugged sports adventure vehicle.
