Why are guys who like they are homeless playing WPT Alpha8 events? And a Daniel Negreanu tweet stirs up a little drama. It’s all in the week’s most interesting threads in the world of poker forums.
Thread: Negreanu proclaims that he will “purchase a stack” in day two of Bellagio $10k wpt.
So Daniel Negreanu created a little bit of drama with this tweet:
I will be playing the WPT Bellagio Dec 16th, entering on day 2 and will be playing aggro to purchase a stack. Haven't played poker in ages!
— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) December 11, 2014
As Allen Kessler describes it: “Purchase a stack means play hyper aggressive and keep reentering until you win a lot of chips. Basically you are paying whatever it costs to “purchase a stack”.”
So, while some people have a problem with this, others are saying it’s good for everyone else when a pro is willing to increase the prize pool just to get a stack. Where do you fall?
Thread: 4 homeless men make WPT Alpha8 Bellagio final table
This thread made us chuckle, as the original poster pokes fun at the way some of the final table participants look in this $100K buy-in tourney. Phil Laak is one of them, and a spoiler alert: one of the homeless guys wins.
Thread: Rant: The decline of the western online poker pro
Not really new news, here, just some new analysis that paints a bleak picture for players in the west. Which probably isn’t going to change until there’s a major new player in online poker or the United States gets back into the market.
