Chopping the biggest weekly tournament in New Jersey, the PartyPoker NJ Sunday $50K Guaranteed, has been in vogue lately, but this week ‘afa6543211' kept the title to himself to win $10,000.
Afa6543211 came into the final table of this week’s tournament in the middle of the chip counts, while his eventual heads-up opponent, ‘jjfish’ entered as the chip leader. Afa6543211 would be responsible for one knockout (other than jjfish) on the way to the victory, while jjfish would drive the action and account for several eliminations.
Afa6543211 started the heads-up battle at a two-to-one disadvantage, a deficit that would grow to five-to-one. But afa6543211 turned things around with a couple of sets to get back into the match. He would need a suckout to win the tournament, however. The chips would go in the middle with a board of A-6-4-7, and afa6543211 was behind with A-5 against jjfish’s A-9. An eight came on the river, however, to make a straight for afa6543211 and give him the title.
The upcoming edition of the Sunday $50K, on Sunday, Dec. 28th, will see its prize pool doubled to $100,000.
